What is it? How has it emerged? Why is it important? How are you already involved?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\">1<b>1:15am-12:15pm<\/b> <b>Transformative Justice and Education<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\">The purpose of this panel is\u00a0to synthesize theories of transformative\/restorative justice with its application in pedagogy and education. Specifically, how can we break down traditional systems of oppression through transformative approaches to education?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\"><b>12:15-1:00pm\u00a0Lunch<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\"><b>1:00-2:00pm Connecting Environmental Justice to Transformative Justice<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\">This panel will\u00a0focus on how environmental work connects with transformative justice, and will highlight the different strains of work being done both to resist environmental injustice and to build alternative communities\/socio-ecological spaces.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\"><strong>2pm A performance by\u00a0Raging Asian Women Taiko Drummers (RAW)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\"><b>2:30-3:30pm Criminalizing the oppressed: <\/b>Transformative <b>perspectives on citizenship, belonging, and the prison. \u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\">This panel will explore the ways in which an expanding carceral state is being used to manage social and economic insecurity. How are people punished on the basis of their movement, race, status, gender conformity etc.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\">3<b>:30-5:00pm <\/b>\u00a0<b>Open Space activity: <\/b>This facilitated open space will be an opportunity to contribute to, or lead a dialogue that will begin to translate theory into action.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align:justify;\"><b>November 22nd<\/b><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\"><strong>9:00-11\/ noon:<\/strong> Follow-up collaboration on action plans.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We are excited for this\u00a0tentative schedule to become more detailed in depth and scope as we move forward.
